About Sub-Zero repair

Why Sub-Zero owners in DFW call the Cowboys

Sub-Zero builds built-in and integrated refrigeration — full-height columns, French-door and side-by-side units, under-counter drawers and wine storage — around sealed systems that are engineered to be serviced rather than swapped out. When one stops holding temperature, the fix is a proper sealed-system diagnosis, not a guess.

Most Sub-Zero models use dual refrigeration — separate cooling systems for the fresh-food and freezer compartments — so a warm refrigerator above a cold freezer points us at one side before a single panel comes off. Integrated Designer units are drawn forward out of their opening and set back level, so the custom panels and reveals line up with the cabinetry again.

FAQ

Sub-Zero repair — common questions

Why is my Sub-Zero freezer fine while the refrigerator side is warm?

Dual refrigeration gives each compartment its own cooling system, so one can fail while the other carries on. On the warm side we look at the evaporator fan, frost build-up on the coil and the defrost circuit first, then test that side's sealed system if those check out.

Can you service a Sub-Zero that is fully panelled into my cabinets?

Yes. Once its fixings to the cabinetry are released, the unit is drawn forward over protected flooring with the panel edges padded. After the repair it goes back into the opening and is re-levelled, so door swing, seal contact and panel reveals match the rest of the run.

Do you handle refrigerant work on Sub-Zero sealed systems?

Our technicians are EPA-certified for refrigerant handling. That covers leak searching, evaporator and compressor replacement, and evacuating and recharging the system afterwards. You hear what the sealed-system repair involves and what it costs before anything is opened up.
