About GE repair

Why GE owners in DFW call the Cowboys

GE refrigerators, washers, dryers and ranges have been in Texas homes for generations, and the current Profile line is a solid mid-premium choice. We service both older and current GE units — from a top-load washer that will not agitate to a French-door refrigerator with a failed ice maker.

GE has built many generations of the same kind of appliance, so an old top-loader and a new Profile range can share a badge and very little else. We work from the rating plate to confirm which design is in front of us, then test the actual circuit — a valve, a sensor, a board — rather than changing parts out of habit. When a GE refrigerator turns out to need sealed-system work, our EPA-certified technicians take care of the refrigerant.

FAQ

GE repair — common questions

My GE freezer is cold but the fresh-food side is warm — what usually fails?

On GE refrigerators that pattern usually points to airflow: a stalled evaporator fan, an evaporator iced up after a defrost heater or thermostat failure, or a damper stuck shut between the compartments. The compressor is often fine. We check each in turn and melt off any frost so cooling recovers once the failed part is replaced.

How do you tell an older GE apart from a current Profile unit?

The rating plate lists the model and serial, which tells us the product family and roughly when the appliance was built. That matters on GE, because parts and wiring changed a great deal between generations. We read it at the start of the visit so the diagnosis follows the right wiring diagram from the outset.

Do you repair GE appliances built since Haier bought GE Appliances?

Yes. The GE and GE Profile names carried on after the 2016 sale, and newer units are repaired the same way as any other: we test the system that failed, source the correct part for that model and explain the job in plain terms. GE-branded appliances from before the sale are just as welcome.
