Who actually made my Kenmore appliance?
Sears sourced Kenmore appliances from several manufacturers — Whirlpool, LG and Electrolux among them — depending on the product and the year. The first digits of the model number identify the maker. Knowing who built it tells us which parts, wiring layout and common failures to expect before the panels come off.
Can you still get parts for a Kenmore now that most Sears stores are gone?
In most cases. Because Kenmore parts are the original manufacturer's components, many can be ordered through that maker's parts channels as well as Kenmore-branded suppliers. For very old units some parts are discontinued, and we'll let you know that at the start rather than partway through the job.
Do Kenmore Elite front-loaders have the same problems as other front-load washers?
